World’s oldest living person: Kane Tanaka

On 5th January Kane Tanaka celebrated her 117th birthday thereby being the world’s oldest person alive. Tanaka born on 2nd January 1903 was a premature baby. In 1922, she got married to Hideo Tanaka, had four children and adopted a fifth child after that. All this information has been mentioned in the Guinness World Records. Last year, Tanaka was honoured as the world’s oldest living person by the Guinness World Records. Tanaka celebrated her birthday 117th birthday at a nursing home in Fukuoka in Southern Japan. She celebrated it with the staff and friends at the nursing home. Tanaka even took a bite of her birthday cake as well. After taking a bite of the cake Tanaka with a smile exclaimed that the cake is tasty and she wants some more.

According to reports Tanaka’s age is symbolic of Japan’s fast-aging population as the birth rate in Japan fell about 5.9% last year. The welfare ministry of Japan shared a report that stated since the time of compilation of this data it has happened for the first time that birth rate fell to less than 900, 000. The ministry has been collecting this data since 1899.
