Women’s day: No special effects

There was hardly any notion of these celebrations during the time when our mom was young. So she is just not aware of the fact that there can be a single day in the year when we all would be glorifying women on the whole. Even if we bring something different for them on this day, the reaction ends up being weird.

To be honest, when we are not celebrating men’s day then why women’s day as we all talk about equality? There are reserved seats for women in the public transports, separate train for women and we talk about fairness. This is no more the time when women stay confined to their own boundaries and knows simply nothing. Now a woman is driving public transport, women like Serena Williams hitting the court when her husband is busy concentrating on the baby, female IPS struggling with the criminals and many more. The question of fair chance is out of the minds. Today we believe in reverse psychology probably.

The state is authorized to make any sorts of special provision for women. In other words, this provision empowers the state to make assenting discrimination in favour of women [Article 15(3)]- But is it necessary today? Women today is in no need of special provisions for themselves, they are independent and can do anything men cannot. They are entitled to carry out the necessary jobs to make the world a better place to live on.

This Women’s day let us not prioritize “gender” but a person as a whole.
