In this world, a woman can do anything. She is a multitasker. So there’s an ongoing debate to recruit women in combat roles in the forces. The Indian Army is planning to provide 400 permanent commission to women in the field of languages, cyber and space operation.
For a few months, this work has been in progress and the government will be announcing the same in the coming months. A Senior Army told ANI, "We see a lot of opportunity for lady officers in the cyber and space operations which are coming up very fast due to changing nature of warfare. Women can be permanently inducted as specialist officers there and serve for long periods,".
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently mentioned setting up of cyber and space agencies of defence forces to handle the challenges.
According to the information, there is a requirement of 400 women officer. A lady officer is also in need to take care of the post of language specialist. Because it is felt that, the forces lack interpreters for languages like Chinese, Sinhalese, Myanmarese and Vietnamese. In addition to that, the women officers would provide continuity in this field. Because they would be posted for a longer period of time and they can develop super specialisation.
The sources said, "We deal with these forces on a very regular basis and there have been situations in social gatherings where the two sides end up just smiling at each other due to language barriers. With specialist women officers holding this front, we can overcome these issues,".
The women officers were inducted initially for a maximum of 14 years of service. The army is looking for women where they will be inducted as jawans to help the troops in the operation.
