Women in Military Police, Coming Soon

Women in combat field and military is a rare scenario in India. However, that is about to change with the recruitments in place for the designation of 100 military police for which over 2 lakh women have come forward. In the first-even women Military Police recruitment process, which commenced in Lucknow on Thursday, which saw a massive number (595) of participants.

Indian Army had taken up the job to engage 100 women to start their initial recruitment and after that training session, and had made an official announcement for the available rank of soldiers into the Corps of Military Police in April this year. Out of 1 lakh participants from only Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, 4335 have been shortlisted.

The recruitment rally is to be held for 3 consecutive days at the AMC stadium in Lucknow, and the initial day saw a big turnout from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand so far. The procedure includes physical tasks like 6-km run, long jump, high jump and other skillful events for fitness purposes starting from 7:30 in the morning.

The first day saw participants were mostly from districts like Amethi, Ambedkar Nagar, Prayagraj, Basti, Faizabad, Kushinagar, Pratapgarh, Sultanpur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Unnao, Sant Kabir Nagar, Balrampur, Hardoi, Sitapur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Barabanki, Kannauj, Gonda and Mahoba in UP. The second day will also witness another huge turn out from districts such as Baghpat, Bijnor, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Ata, Jhansi, Agra, Hathras, Kasganj Gautam Budh Nagar, Rampur, Hapur, Mainpur and Mathura along with participants from Uttarakhand.

Remaining districts from UP and Uttarakhand which includes, Almora, Bageshwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Champavat, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Haridwar, Rudraprayag will be taking part in third day. Woman are no longer thought to be only restricted to achieving household chores with perfection, but their presence in other fields, mostly dominated by men should be equally appreciated and accepted in order for the nation to move forward.
