They are like the group of like-minded girls with an intense love for their motorcycles and encouraging women to go on an adventure. They strongly believe “Why should boys have all the fun!”
Kolkata has its own Lady Biker’s club, which set a blazing trail on every wintry evening. Biking had long been a favourite sport for men in India but now women biker groups have joined the fray. Few Female dare-devils have come out into the open, breaking and overcoming every social barrier. These ladies are here to stay, that’s now a proven fact and not a fad.
Foundation of Bikerni group:
This Female biker’s group is one of the first and old group clubs in India. The “Bikerni” was found in the year 2011 by Urvashi Patole Sane. Sane started out as a platform for woman to come together to ride motorcycles and to gain respect in the biking community as a female. In the same year, Mohua Polley and Raima Samui Sarkar joined hand with Urvashi and formed a Lady Biker group in Kolkata with an aim to bring enthusiastic female bike riders together under an umbrella.
The Lady Biker Club:
The club has their own bikes and hold meetings on the road; they don’t set a boardroom meeting. These feisty ladies participate in every safety rallies, practice rides and go on adventure trips every alternative month. What makes them a super biker squad is their passion for adventure and explore places.
From Rameshwaram to Leh-Ladak, Orissa to Rann of Kutch, these lady bikers have togged up more than 60 trips. Other than participating in adventure trips, this club also organize workshop to familiarize members with their mean machine.
