Woman Behind the Wheels- We salute them

On one side you will see Sudha Murthy who didn't opt for a promising IT career, believed in herself and became a Indian philanthropist and writer or we can talk about Indra Nooyi, the chief executive officer of PepsiCo who's running a giant corporations. These women have one thing in common- they never settled for anything less

For a woman, any profession is a respectful job and they are breaking down all sorts of boundaries and flying high.
Now, get prepared to be pleasantly surprised by uniformed women chauffeurs in cars and women drivers in Pink auto from Hazra-Tollygunge and zip-zooming across town. We love that the WoW (woman on Wheels) campaign that help these women to become self-sustaining and powerful in their own way.

“Women on Wheels”
Now, Kolkata has a new fleet of cars to reach you around the city without any hassle. This is part of “Women on Wheels” campaign which is head by Delhi-based Azad Foundation. Their motto is to work with young women from resettlement colonies and give them a good living.

“Pink Autos in Kolkata”
Another set of woman drivers been driving the pink auto rickshaws. Citizens have witnessed a plethora of Pink autos within the city; with three women (Mousumi, Tandra and Mumtaz) already have taken up driving auto from the Tollygunge-Hazra route making it safer for woman.

“Kolkata's lady bus-driver”
Pratima Poddar is a mother of two and a bus driver. She is probably Kolkata's only woman bus driver, who drives behind the wheel of Nimta-Howrah. Breaking all the boundaries she has proved that everything can be achieved with hard work and dedication. This lady is unique in her sphere, being the only woman bus driver in a male-dominated transport industry and making her family proud.
