The bed-ridden maestro

Ramavath Suvarna of Telangana is truly an inspiration to all. This 22-year-old girl suffering from fluorosis, a condition which causes the affected person’s hands and legs to get twisted. Being bed-ridden from the age of 14-years, she started drawing sketches and drawings with the little movement that her wrist and fingers can do, which is less than five centimeters. Her paintings are quite famous among the school children in that area, who buy her pencil and crayon drawings for Rs. 2 each.

Her dedication and works are slowly getting recognition as her paintings were put up for auction online. Among them one of the paintings with a girl dressed in tribal attire sold for Rs. 10, 000. She recently painted portraits of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, his son K.T. Rama Rao and K. Kavitha. Suvarna wants to give the portrait to KCR herself when he visits Nalgonda for the election campaign and tell him about the problems fluorosis-affected people go through.
