It’s a proud moment for Madhya Pradesh’s Mehtab Singh Yadav and his family.Chinki Yadav daughter of Mehtab Singh won the 25m pistol gold medal in the national selection trails and team silver at the national shooting championship. Mehtab Singh is an electrician who lives inside the stadium of the sports academy. He is associated with the sports department for 23 years, and as a result,Chinki watched others playing different kinds of sports, which piqued an interest in her. Mehtab recalls one-day Chinki wanted to join the academy’s summer camp and the rest is history. Chinki joined the shooting academy in 2012, Yadav says,
“She was among few shooters selected after talent hunt for the shooting academy. She later took part in the national championship and won the medal.”
As Chinki is a day-boarder she spent maximum time at the academy and is a part of the Indian shooting squad in the junior category for four years. Motivated by Chinki Yadav admitted his son in the academy as well. He is also as talented as his big sister. Yadav is only an electrician affording the guns and ammunition would be naturally hard for him, but the sports academy has supported Chinki really well. even the sports director S L Thaosen believes that Chinki Yadav has the potential to achieve even greater goals. In the 19th Surendra Singh memorial shooting championship, that took place in Delhi two more female shooters won medals.
