Scars Couldn’t Dampen Their Spirits

Acid attack is one of the most heinous crimes that one can commit. It is the worst pain inflicted upon a person. There are people out there who have not only survived these attacks but are also unwilling to dampen their spirit because of these scars.

Here we are celebrating the strength of a few such women who will inspire you:

1. Laxmi Saa was attacked while she was 16 for rejecting sexual advances of a 32-year-old man in Delhi. Now she helps other acid-attack survivors and also became the face of a fashion brand.

2. Reshma Bano Qureshi was attacked with acid by her brother-in-law who mistook her for his wife. She became the face of “Make Love, Not Scars” which helps other acid attack survivors and also made beauty tutorials online and campaigned #EndAcidSale. She also walked the ramp for Archana Kochhar in 2016 New York Fashion Week.

3. Monica Singh was attacked by the man she refused to marry. 7 layers of her skin burnt and took 46 surgeries to recover. She is now a New York based fashion designer and has also built a foundation for women in that help rape, domestic violence and acid attack survivors.

The list doesn’t end here. There are names like Mohini Kumar; Shabbo Sheikh; Rangoli, sister of actress Kangana Ranaut; Sonia Shaikh etc.

These women are true heroes who have not let the acid burn their soul down, instead their ascent in life is inspiring women around them.
