The latest mother daughter frame in Mirchi Music Awards Bangla 2018 has grabbed the attention of many. Ritabhari Chakraborty and Satarupa Sanyal is the perfect duo in today’s social set up. Satarupa Sanyal, the independent Bengali film director, poet, actress and social activist of one time has now put forward her daughter Ritabhari Chakraborty. Sanyal was best known for her films from feminist point of view and she feels that Women’s day is nothing special, every day is for all.
Ritabhari Chakraborty and Satarupa Sanyal runs an NGO together namely “Scud society for social communication” and they prefer to focus on the development of women especially in the rural areas in West Bengal. This is definitely a desperate initiative from their end. Ritabhari Chakraborty who performs in many women centric movies like “Pari” and soaps like “Ogo Badhu Sundari” believes that women are special and they hardly need any special treatment on a fixed date. According to her, “every day is women’s day, not a particular day is required. But the struggle the women did, from that angle it is perfectly alright. This day signifies that women have the capabilities to fight for justice and they have spent years to achieve the goal. For this there should be a day and this is a beautiful day. So I want to share this feeling that empowering women doesn’t mean taking men down and if we women stand together and hold each other’s hands then we are much much much stronger class of people.”
