New initiative for Women farmers

Farming is strenuous job. It’s a challenging job which requires quite a lot of strength both physically and mentally, and for women, it can be quite a task.

To change things and make the condition less complex, the International Rice Research Institution (IRRI) has came up with a new technique. The institution wants to provide the right kind of training to the women paddy farmers.  Hence, they have selected eight farmers to visit IRRI in Philippines to learn about the rice farming. This step is initiated by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), a body concerned towards empowering women farmers in the country.

However, 35 women farmers were selected for another workshop which was conducted in Bhubaneshwar. Of these 35 women famers, eight of them got selected and they will fly to Philippines on August 6th. These 8 women are selected from Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal
