Aiming to combat and prevent crimes like harassment, eve-teasing,and molestation soon all-women Police patrol teams will be launched in eight major cities.
Under a special safety programme, the Home Ministry has approved Rs 3,000 crore (approx.). To make the city safer for women and Children, the All- women police patrol teams will be launched. It will implement in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Kolkata from 2018-19 to 2020-21. Within this programme, smart LED streetlights, one-stop crisis centers, forensic and transit dormitories for women and children will be available. Well-equipped emergency response vehicles called ‘Abhayam’ vans will be launched to ensure quick and effective response system within these 8 cities. Even woman-helping desk and public panic buttons will be set.
