Miss Ukraine 2018 sued Miss World organizers

Discrimination in several industries is not a new thing, the number is quite high in the glamour or modeling industry. Recently, Miss Ukraine 2018 Veronika Didusenko fell prey to this discrimination. Veronika was stripped of her crown and has been banned from competing for the Miss World pageant because she is a mother of a five-year-old son. The organizers found out about her son and took away her title, as the rules of the Miss World pageant bar married women and mothers from taking part in it.

The contestants are even asked to sign a corresponding agreement. Didusenko retaliated by taking legal action against the organizers of the Miss World for breaching the terms of Equality Act of 2010. This act is to protect the women against discrimination based on certain parameters including gender, marriage and maternity. Veronika took to her social media handle to protest against this ill deed. On her Instagram handle she wrote,“The reason I was not allowed to compete in Miss World after winning the #MissUkraine is because I had been married and have a child.”

There she also wrote that she doesn’t want the crown back, rather she wants to get the rules changed for wider society. The roots of the Miss World beauty are here in Europe. The first Miss World pageant was held in 1951 in Britain.
