Having conviction and commitment in life is important it gives your life meaning and then you have your destiny to curve your path. Garima’s destiny was to serve the Indian Army, that’s why she cleared the CDS (Combined Defence Service) exam on her first attempt and joined the Indian Army as a lieutenant. She has joined Officers Training Centre, Chennai. Garima took part in a beauty pageant called India’s miss charming and won it in November 2017. She was selected for the next pageant also which was on the international level. But she declined that offer and joined the OTA Chennai.
Garima did a BA in Economics and wanted to join the IAS. About her training, she says that it was difficult for her first to cope up with the physical training. Garima did not have very good physical standards but she overcame her flaws and improved radically. She says,
“People have a wrong conception that you have to be good at all sports, physically strong to get selected in the Sashastra Seema Bal, that’s not true you just should be willing to accept your weaknesses and work on them, should always endeavor to get better and better every day”.
She has secured the AIR-2 in CDS 1 and is now at the OTA, Chennai. Garima is a single-mother child. Garima’s mother was her source of inspiration and motivation. She wanted to make her mother proud. There are more such Garima who are waiting for their window so that they can also do something to make their loved ones’ proud.
