She was told,‘A Kashmiri girlshould stay indoors and follow orders of her shohar (husband)’.Defying such statement, this lady never gave up on her dream and went on to become a commercial pilot.

It took her six long years to convince her parents to fly the big bird- Boing 747.

With a burning passion of thousand stars, Iram Habib, a resident of downtown Kashmir become the first Muslim woman to fly a commercial aircraft this September.Well, she will succeed Tanvi Raina, a Kashmiri Pandit, who joined Air India as the Valley’s first woman pilot back in 2016. Though she studied forestry from the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, she never let her childhood ambition die for once.

Well, her journey was never easy since she had to answer numerous questions about her profession to her parents, relative and conservative society. But, she is brave and she has proved it. We the Jiyo Woman team salute her aim and guts.
