Indian Ladies Making a Mark In Aviation

In 2012 India was declared the worst of the G20 nations in which women are prejudiced, they face gender biases and inequality.

Well, now Indian women are way far ahead of any other countries in the world when it comes to aviation. The number of pilots employed by the Indian airlines is higher than any other airlines around the world, boosting a higher percentage of women in the cockpit.

According to Air Line Pilots Association International, globally just over 5% female are pilots whereas in India the figure is closer to 13%, which is higher than any other country. The number of pilots Indian airlines companies are much higher to the proportion, in a number of western countries, including the UK (the Civil Aviation Authority puts the number at 4.77%) and US (the FAA says 4.36%).

Indian women in large numbers have shown interest in the aviation industry for the benefits it offers which includes a safe workplace, union-mandated equal pay, day-care services, and pick-up and drop services accompanied by an armed guard for their safety.
