‘Hijabi Biker’: Ruling the Streets

Rules are meant to be broken and, in our society, a maximum number of rules are for women, but we believe in breaking those stereotypes. That has been once again helmed true by Roshni Misbah. Roshni is popularly known as ‘Hijabi biker’. She has successfully and very commendably balanced both her dreams and religious faith. Breaking all pigeonholes, she drives her motorcycle like a pro; better than any guy. She studied Arab Islamic Culture at the Jamia Millia Islamia. Roshni rode her first bike in the ninth standard and she said, “Unlike many girls, I wanted to ride a bike rather than a scooter. I always had a passion for bikes and I am fulfilling it.”

Roshni’s father supported her dreams, despite belonging to a conservative family her father stood by her. Having a supportive family goes a long way; there are many girls like Roshni who fail to live their dreams just because they lack the support of their family. Roshni is an inspiration in her community and girls aspire to be like her. Her friends including males agree that she is a better rider than most of the guys. Roshni is a part of a Delhi-based all-female biker ‘Bikerni’. She wishes to take part in bike races in further future, she also wants to pursue a Ph.D. in Arab Islamic Culture and help her father in their family business.
