Meena Kumari is known as the ‘tragedy queen’ of Indian cinema.
Born in 1933, ‘Baby Meena’ literally grew up in front of the camera, having made her on-screen debut at the age of 4. On her 85th birth anniversary, Google doodle payed a fitting tribute to this actor who has appeared in more than 90 films.
"As shown in the doodle, Meena Kumari captivated audiences with her beautiful, expressive eyes," said the official Google Doodle page.
Some of her memorable films include Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Pakeezah, Baiju Bawra, Parineeta, Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai, Mere Apne, Aarti and many more.
The iconic beauty died in 1972, having suffered from liver cirrhosis.
