Delhi schools’ measure to reduce crimes against women

Not to be grim or pessimistic at the beginning of the article but there is no denying of the truth that the safety of women in India is becoming doubtful with each passing day. Both central and state governments are taking several steps to ensure women’s safety and in the wake of that Delhi government has taken another step with the objective of promoting women's safety. Last week the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal announced that all the schools in Delhi will soon pledge to behave properly with the opposite gender. Kejriwal said that moral pressure needs to be created on boys so they don’t tolerate bad behavior. He further said,“All the girls will also be asked to talk to their brothers, to tell them that he cannot ever misbehave with any girl. Mothers need to tell their male children that if you ever do something to a girl, I will never let you inside this house again. We will have to have this conversation with boys,"He further announced,"All girls will be told to speak to their brothers, even if it is a formality and you feel that your brother is incapable of any such activities, but you have to talk to them. All the girls will have to report their conversation in the classes in which they will have to tell their brothers that if they do anything they shouldn't come home and stop calling them their sister".

The Delhi government took the safety of women up a notch and installed CCTV cameras. Around three lakh CCTVs have been installed in every nook and corner of the city and there will be more if required said the CM himself. Kejriwal further said that Delhi is the first city in the world to have installed so many CCTVs in one go. It is quite shameful but it is true that Delhi records the highest number of crimes against women in our country.
