Manisha Koirala, Sonali Bendre, Tahira Kashyap are known to all due to their work on screen but can you guess the common thread between all of them?

They are all Cancer survivors. They have fought one of the deadliest diseases in the world. An innumerable number of women in our country fight against this disease to see another sunrise, to live with their loved ones.

Not every battle is fought on battlefields some battles are fought from within. The 4th of February is recognized as World Cancer Day by the United Nations Organisation (UNO) to raise awareness about cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. We take this day to honor and pay respect to all those women who are struggling every day or have battled to live their lives on their own terms.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer that women may face in their life except for skin cancer, Ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, colon cancer, and endometrial cancer are the most common cancers that affect women.

According to recent studies, women strike with cancer more than men in India.

Women take care of yourself! Stay away from tobacco, maintain a proper weight, eat and drink healthy, check on your family health history, get regular check-ups and cancer screening tests. Your health is your responsibility. Stay safe and stay healthy. Afterall to fight cancer medicines are not enough… they need love and a lot of care as well!

Team Jiyo Woman wishes all of you good health and happiness on this World Cancer Day and respect to all those who have survived it. Much love!
