5 Causes of Low Milk Supply in Breastfeeding Moms

Hormonal issues: If you are not producing enough milk, then you can blame on the hormones. Most of the women today have hormonal problems like thyroid, PCOS, and other related issues. Make sure you talk to your doctor and sort out the problems so that you get enough milk to feed your baby.

Medication: There are certain chemicals like bromocriptine, pseudoephedrine, and methergine present in few medicines that can affect your milk production to a greater extent. Consult your doctors so that he can prescribe you with alternate medicines and herbs.

Night time Breastfeeding: I am sure that none of us want to feed our babies during the night. We truly want them to have a sound sleep. But do you know that during the night time Prolactin levels remain higher and can signal our breasts to produce more milk? Improve your feeding session as soon as possible.

Supplements: If your baby starts the formula milk during his first few weeks then the capacity of the breasts to produce more milk gets lowered.

Birth Control Pill: You wanted to enjoy a certain time of conjugal life, therefore in order to avoid unwanted pregnancy all you did was to have birth control pills. Don’t start taking them again after your childbirth. Consult your doctor for the best possible treatments. Make sure that you avoid this kind of pills and boost up your milk production for the good of the baby.
